Surfers will save Portuguese waves
Portugal is hard hit by beach erosion. A problem that is expected to increase as sea levels rise, due to global warming. And this threatens not only beaches and beachfront buildings but also the big waves that have made Portugal a favorite destination for surfers from all over the world. Now the country will test a new technology to try to stop the problem of erosion: pumping millions of cubic meters of sand through kilometer-long pipelines. It will be the first time the method is tried in Europe and the idea came from two cursed surfers.
